My Eyes Adored You Lyrics
What a perfectly constructed song written by Bob Crewe and Kenny Nolan. It was
originally recorded by The Four Seasons in early 1974 but released as a Frankie
Valli solo song and topped the charts in 1975. Besides the touching subject
matter, it subliminally keeps our interest by continuously modulating up 1/2 step
at a time. Send Questions/comments to dougj1986(at)aol.com. My apologies if the
chord/words placement gets misaligned as I imported these notes from Word.
My Eyes Adored You
The intro guitar part uses '6ths' a la Van Morrison's BROWN EYED GIRL or Jim Croce's OPERATOR

My eyes adored you, though I never laid a hand on you,

Carried your books from school,
playing make-believe you're married to me.

You were fifth grade, I was sixth, when we came to be.
Walking home every day..over Barnagat Bridge and Bay,
till we grew into ' me and you,' who went our separate ways.
Headed for city lights climbed the ladder up to fortune and fame.
I worked my fingers to the bone, made myself a name.
Funny, I seem to find, that no matter how the years unwind...
Still I reminisce about the girl I miss and the love I left behind...
My eyes adored you, though I never laid a hand on you,
my eyes a..dored you. Like a million miles away from me you
couldn't see how I a……dored you..
So close, so close, and yet so far.
My eyes adored you, though I never laid a hand on you,
my eyes a..dored you. Like a million miles away from me you
couldn't see how I a……dored you..
So close, so close, and yet so far.
My eyes adored you, though I never laid a hand on you,
my eyes a..dored you. Like a million miles away from me you
couldn't see how I a………dored you..
So close, so close, and yet so far.
(this is vamped over the C# CHORUS Above)
All my life I will remember, how warm and tender
we were way back then.
Though I'm feeling sad regrets, I know I
E B/D# (MODULATE UP 1/2 STEP TO Dm7)
