Pink Floyd A Pillow of Winds Lyrics

A PILLOW OF WINDS
(Waters/Gilmour)
by Pink Floyd
from the album "Meddle" (1971)
I was surprised not to find a tab of this beautiful song on the net
(just chords but in a not very accurate version) so I decided to post it
like I play it on this standard tuning simplyfied version (there are
more guitars than this on the record, including two diferent ones for
the slide fills). Timing and vibrato are the hardest parts to get
the slide sound, but with a little practice I think this will be good
enought to get started. Here goes the slide fills and the chords.
Sorry for my english I'm from Argentina.
_______________Slide fills______________
(Words and chords only for reference, no timing implied.)
Notation:
/12: slide up to 12
(10 : slide down from 10
7(: slide down to 7
5/7: slide up from 5 to 7
7(5: slide down from 7 to 5
5///8: slow slide up
7(((4: slow slide down
2/slow/7: even slower up slide
..eiderdown.. .. The sound
.. I lie low..
When night.. ..floor
As darkness.. ..warm
Now wakes.. ..gone
Green fields... ...dawn.
Instrumental part:
Bm/A Em/F# (play with your free fingers here)
And deep beneath... ..down.
Sleepy time.. ..low.
and I rise... ...the sky
And the night winds die.
Fades...
______________Chords_____________
Chords must be played repeating this pattern all through the song:
(Start again here)
It's the same pattern used for Beatles songs "Julia",
"Dear Prudence", "Octopus Garden" and the beguining of
"Happiness is a warm gun" and John learned it from folk singer Donovan.
When added notes are indicated for chords (E/F# for example)
these must be played on 5th and 6th strings.
Intro:
A cloud of eiderdown drawns around me softening the sound
sleepy time when I lie with my love my side
and she is breathing low.
And the candle dies.
When night comes down you lock the door
the book falls to the floor.
As darkness falls and waves roll by,
the season change, the wind is warm.
Now wakes the owl, now sleep the swan
behold the dream, the dream is gone.
Green fields a cold rain is falling in a golden dawn
(Instumental)
E+7 F#m/E E+7 F#m/E (verse starts here)
And deep beneath the ground
the early morning sounds and I go down.
Sleepy time when I lie with my love by my side
and she's breathing low.
And I rise like a bird in the haze
when the first rays touch the sky.
And the night winds die.
F#m/E E+7 F#m/E E+7 Bm/A ...Fades.
* I play this chord like this:
I think Em/G might be actually G6
anyway this is the chord:
Enjoy it !
Comments, corrections, or whatever are welcome.
By the way, Anybody out there has a tab of "the Embryo" live at the BBC version ?
