The Idle Race, the band Jeff Lynne was in before he joined the Move
(and therefore - before ELO). I am surprised that they are not already
in the Ultimate Guitar database, so thought I'd post one.
(Here's a link to their biog - they have long since split.

The F D chord sequence at the end of the verses is the same as the intro riff.
The F might be better as an Fmaj7, the F sounds right to me. Also, I am not
sure that the guitar fill after the first chorus is right, it's very
fast and I'm not particularly good at picking those bits up. I play
rhythm more than lead, so...
Corrections and comments welcome.
Yes she's leaving on the train,
Never coming back again,
D D7 F D (intro riff)
The lines go far ahead.
Got a job fixed in the city,
Wants to be a star she's pretty,
D D7 F D (intro riff)
And I don't get a part.
So please no more sad songs,
I heard enough today,
Isn't it nice, holding you tight, remember- er-er
(Fill)
Left a note here on the floor
Where she used to knock the door
D D7 F D (intro riff)
I found when I got home
Said you're gonna be a singer
Be a star, a real swinger,
D D7 F D (intro riff)
I hope it's very nice.
So please no more sad songs,
I heard enough today,
Isn't it nice, holding you tight, remember- er-er
Thought she was joking when I looked around
Went to her room and saw her things had gone,
She must have flown
Oh Ahhhhh ahh ahhh ahhhhh
Aaahhhh aaahhh aaaahhhh aaaahhh
Aaaahhh aaaahhhh aaaahhh aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
Guess she's left upon a train,
Never coming back again,
D D7 F D (Intro riff)
The lines went far away.
Got her job in the big city,
She became a star so pretty
D D7 F D (Intro riff)
Now I don't know her name.
So please no more sad songs,
I heard enough today,
Isn't it nice, holding you tight, remember- er-er
So please no more sad songs,
I heard enough today,
Isn't it nice, holding you tight, remember- er-er
Isn't it nice, holding you tight, remember- er-er
