الآية الأولى:
I heard the bells on Christmas day, their old familiar carols play
سمعت الأجراس في يوم عيد الميلاد، وهي تعزف ترانيمها القديمة المألوفة
And wild and sweet the words repeat of, peace on earth, goodwill to men
وتكرر الكلمات البرية والعذبة: السلام على الأرض، وحسن النية للناس

الآية الثانية:
And I thought how as the day had come, the belfries of all Christendom
وفكرت كيف أن هذا اليوم قد جاء، أبراج أبراج العالم المسيحي كله
Had rolled along the unbroken song of peace on earth, goodwill to men
لقد دحرجت أغنية السلام المتواصلة على الأرض، وحسن النية تجاه البشر

'Til ringing, singing on its way, the world revolved from night to day
حتى الرنين والغناء في طريقه، العالم يدور من الليل إلى النهار

صوت، رنين، أنشودة سامية للسلام على الأرض، وحسن النية للبشر

And in despair I bowed my head, "there is no peace on earth", I said
وفي اليأس أحنيت رأسي وقلت: "ليس هناك سلام على الأرض".
