Don't Come Back Knockin' Lyrics

Don't Come Back Knocking - Buddy Holly
Buddy Holly
Don't Come Back Knocking (1955)
(Buddy Holly/Sue Parrish)
Now on: "Down the Line - Rarities (CD 1)"
This is what I could figure out. The chords are of course not always plain
major chords, sometimes you have to add the 7 or 6. The solos are not
exactly what Holly plays but it's at least close. I can't really make up my
mind whether the guitar on the recording is finger-picked or not. In this
case some notes add themselves naturally to the main line I tabbed below.
Even though there are some imperfections here and there, I'm especially
dissatisfied with bar 10 of SOLO 1. I hear two notes played simultaneously
there but I can't figure out how to play them. Must be some special
Rockabilly voicing that I just don't know. Do you? Comments and corrections
are highly welcome!
Well, when you went away and left me all alone
While you played around, I waited at home
Don't come back knockin' at my heart's closed door
Or I won't be home, don't call and knock no more
You had all my heart, was your very own
You weren't satisfied, now I'll go on alone
Don't come back knockin' at my heart's closed door
Or I won't be home, don't call and knock no more
Well, I found you're a rover and it's made me blue
Like a talent scout you want some love that's new
Don't come back knockin' at my heart's closed door
Or I won't be home, don't call and knock no more
Well, pity those with hearts so empty and cold
To never know true love, a treasure to hold
Don't come back knockin' at my heart's closed door
Or I won't be home, don't call and knock no more
