This one's track no. 1 off the latest record "Devour".It gets pretty heavy in the
last chorus but you can
still play it as an acoustic version as well.
Only the strumming changes for that last chorus. As for the Am Intro
(which is the same as the Am in the verse), you gotta find a variation if
you really want it to sound like the original(releasing the D string works for me).
If you have other suggestions or feedback, feel free to leave a comment :-)
Chords used: Am, C, F, G, Em, E
Intro:
Am (variation)
Verse:
Welcome my friends to the show
Dance and drink if you'd like or sit back and take notes
It's a fine night to test what you know
Who you fear who you love and who you cling to for hope
ooooooh ooooooooh
ooooooh ooooooooh
There's strange stifling smell in the air
Cigarette smoke, perfume and a tinge of despair
I guess we should all get prepared
Load your guns, take your pills and start saying your prayers
Say your prayers
Say your prayers
Chorus:
I promised that this wouldn't happen to me
I promised that this wouldn't happen to me
I've got scales grow over my eyes and I can't see
Verse:
If I falter as this moves along
Don't you stop me to ask if there's anything wrong
Your best bet's to just move along
Throw my bones in the river and write me a song
Sing these songs
Sing these songs
Chorus:
I promised that this wouldn't happen to me
I promised that this wouldn't happen to me
Now I'm stockpiling bullets and vitamin c
oh noooo noooooo
I promised that this wouldn't happen to me
I've got scales grow over my eyes and I can't see
Oooooooh
Bridge:
Say your prayers
Say your prayers ooooooh
Sing these songs
Sing my songs
Chorus:
I promised that this wouldn't happen to me
I promised that this wouldn't happen to me
Now I'm stockpiling bullets and vitamin c
oh noooooo nooooo
I promised that this wouldn't happen to me
Take the scales off my eyes I'm trying to see
