Getting Old Lyrics
by hellogoodbye
The intro is played on ukelele but this way sounds decent on guitar. And I
tried to put in the count for the strumming pattern; I hope it's right but
I haven't done that in years so please correct me if it's not. Also, the
second half of the verses has a distinct rhythm so listen to the song for
it. Enjoy!
Intro:
+a 1 + 2 + 3 + 4e 1 + 2 + 3 + 4e+a 1 + 2 + 3 + 4e 1 + 2 + 3 + 4e+a
Verse:
When we were younger time was under careful lock and key.
Now it's open, tipped and pourin' out all over me.
Oh what a shame! that our days, you exclaimed, I thought you had meant they were long.
Not 'till the night when I turned 25, I saw that I had it all wrong.
(Between the two verses you can play half the intro or just keep playing an A chord)
Verse:
I was gettin' tired of lettin' all my hours pass.
Hopin' someday soon or some way everything would last.
Oh What a shame! When I look at your frame, I know someday it will be dust.
Not that I thought it's that close, 'cause it's not, but I guess it's just creepin' up.
(Between the verse and chorus you can play the full intro or A chords)
Chorus:
Oh and it's not that bad, it's all this time we've had.
Things that could be, became history. We'll never know instead.
Oh we're not too far gone. It hasn't been that long.
Oh and our tea cup is getting filled up.
So we'll never have to dread getting old.
Bridge:
Ohhhhhhhhh
Ohhhhhhhhh
Ohhhhhhhhh
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh
Intro:
1 + 2 + 3 + 4e 1 + 2 + 3 + 4e+a 1 + 2 + 3 + 4e 1 + 2 + 3 + 4e+a
Chrous:
Oh but it's not that bad, it's all this time we've had.
Oh things that could be, became history. We'll never know instead.
Oh we're not too far gone. It hasn't been that long.
Oh and our tea cup is getting filled up.
So we'll never have to dread getting old,
Getting old, getting old, getting old!
