Capitol City Lyrics
by Wilco
Capitol City Tab
by Graham Robertson
All verse chords should be voiced as bar chords
starting on the A-string (e.g. F = x|8|10|10|10|8 ; C = x|3|5|5|5|3 ; etc.).
Though I think Tweedy plays the second F (on "secretaries") down on 1,
you need to play it up high if you wanna mimic the bass line
by hitting the root and fifth below it on beats 1 and 3
(e.g. for F, 8 on the A-string and then 8 on the E-string).
On the chorus, all chords that can be played in open
voicings should be done so. The B7 is voiced as shown below.
You can walk down the C after "You wouldn't like it here"
to the C7 in order to mimic Nels' part (i.e. 1 then 0 on B
and then play the C7).
Here's some of the trickier chord voicings:
Ebdim: x|6|7|8|7|x
Gbdim: x|9|10|11|10|x
Baug: X|2|1|0|x|x
B7: x|2|1|2|x|x
Enjoy! Love this song. Very Sergeant Peppers.
VERSE:
Capitol City skyline photo
Skyscrapers shine the suns so
Low in the sky
Secretaries at the hot dog vendors
Cabs honk at the bicycle messengers
Rolling by
I can't call with the subway token
Anyway the phones are all broken
I wish you were here
Better yet I wish I was there with you
CHORUS:
You wouldn't like it here
You should stay right there
Breathin' that country air
You wouldn't like it here
(first half of verse w/o lyrics)
Capitol towers, radiator steam vents
Scream along with the clarinets and arguments
Echo down the hall
I can't sleep; I can't wake up
I'm shaken up; maybe we should break up
I wish you were here
Better yet I wish I was there with you
(first half of verse w/o lyrics)
Capitol city skyline photo
Picture postcard sign the moon's so
Low in the sky
I can't smile when my heart's still broken
Far away in love and unspoken
I wish you were here
Or I was there with you
CHORUS w/o lyrics
