Derek Webb She Must and Shall Go Free Lyrics

1. Nobody Loves Me
NOBODY LOVES ME - words and music by Derek Webb
VERSES: G - Fmaj7 - C
Well I can always tell a liar and I always know a thief
Well I know I'm like my family because brother I'm the chief
Well I'm a dangerous crusader 'cause I need to tell the truth
So I'm turnin' over tables in my own living room
But I might nail indictments up on every door in town
'Cause its not right or safe to let your conscience down
So i don't care if
CHORUS:
Nobody loves me
Nobody loves me
Nobody loves me...but you
'Cause the truth is never sexy
So it's not an easy sell
Well you can dress her like the culture
And she'll shock 'em just as well
And she don't need an apology
For bein' who she is
And she don't need your help makin' enemies
So i don't care if
So I'll do whatever it takes
To fit us into this wedding gown
I'll use words that rattle your nerves
words like 'sin' and 'faith alone' now...
Nobody loves me
Nobody loves me
Nobody loves me...but you
2. She must and shall go free
Mercy speaks by Jesus' blood
Hear and sing, ye sons of God
Justice satisfied indeed
Christ has full atonement made
Jesus' blood speaks loud and sweet
Here all Dei - ty can meet
And without a jarring voice
Welcome Zion to rejoice
Welcome Zion to rejoice
"All her debts were cast on me
And she must and shall go free"
"All her debts were cast on me
And she must and shall go
free"
Peace of conscience, peace with God
We obtain through Jesus' blood
Jesus' blood speaks solid rest
We believe and we are blest
We believe and we are blest
"All her debts were cast on me
And she must and shall go free"
"All her debts were cast on me
And she must and shall go free" (2x)
Should the law against her roar
Jesus' blood still speaks with power
"All her debts were cast on me
And she must and shall go
free"
She must and shall go
Free
"All her debts were cast on me
And she must and shall go free" (3x)
"All her debts were cast on me
And she must and shall go
free"
She must and shall go free
She must and shall go free
She must and shall go free
3. Take To The World
Intro:
Verse 1:
Go in peace to love and to serve
Let your ears ring long with what you have heard
Pre-Chorus:
May the bread on your tongue
Em C ?
Leave a trail of crumbs
Am Em? D C
To lead the hungry back to the place that you are from
Chorus:
And take to the world this love, this hope and faith
Take to the world this rare, relentless grace
C D G?
And like the Three-in-One
C Em? D Am
Know you must become what you want to save
'Cause that's still the way
C D? G (C instead after first Chorus)
He takes to the world
Verse 2:
Go, and go far. Take light deep in the dark
Believe what's true: He uses all, even you
Chorus (2x)
4. Nothing(Without You)
Not Available
5. Lover
Intro: C (hammers on G string on the 2nd fret, then on the D string on fret 2 and 3)
Like a man comes to an altar
I came into this town
With the world upon my shoulders
F G(hammers D string on 2nd and 3rd frets)
and promises passed down
I went into the water
F G(hammers D string on frets 2 and 3, walks back down into the C)
My father, he was pleased
I built it and I'll tear it down
So you will be set free
But I found thieves and salesmen
Living in my father's house
I know how they got in here
and I know how to get them out
I'm turning this place over
From floor to balcony
and then just like these doves and sheep
Oh, you will be set free
I've always been a lover
Before I drew a breath
Some things I loved easy
and some I'll loved to death
Because love's a politician
It listens carefully
So of those who come, I can't lose one
So you will be set free
But go on and take my picture
Go on and make me up
I'll still be your defender
You'll be my missing son
I'll send out an army
Just to bring you back to me
Because regardless of your brother's lies
Oh, you will be set free
I am my beloved's
and my beloved's mine
So you bring all your history
I'll bring the bread and wine
and we'll have us a party
Where all drinks are on me
Because as surely as the rising sun
Oh, you will be set free
Ending: C, C/B, Am, G, F, G, C
6. Wedding Dress
Wedding Dress
by Derek Webb
The keys to this song are simple. At the end of every verse riff, the little
fill part is really simple. Just keep your first finger on A1, then hammer
on and off quickly on G2, then D2. I find that little hammers occasionally
on the D string during F's, and on the G string during the chorus C
transition to Em are nice as well. Season to taste I guess! And I'd say run
your guitar with just a little bit of crunch (via distortion, gain on a tube
amp, whatever)...not much. And light reverb (very light).
If you could love me as a wife
and for my wedding gift, your life
should that be all I'd ever need
or is there more I'm looking for
and should I read between the lines
and look for blessings in disguise
to make me handsome, rich, and wise
is that really what you want
(chorus)
I am a whore I do confess
but I put you on just like a wedding dress
and I run down the aisle
and I run down the aisle
I'm a prodigal with no way home
but I put you on just like a ring of gold
and I run down the aisle to you
so could you love this bastard child
though I don't trust you to provide
with one hand in a pot of gold
and with the other in your side
I am so easily satisfied
by the call of lovers so less wild
that I would take a little cash
over your very flesh and blood
(chorus)
because money cannot buy
a husband's jealous eye
when you have knowingly deceived his wife
Derek Webb ? ?Wedding Dress? (capo 3)
Intro:
if you could love me as a wife
and for my wedding gift, your life
should that be all i'll ever need
or is there more i'm looking for
and should i read between the lines
and look for blessings in disguise
to make me handsome, rich, and wise
is that really what you want
Chorus:
i am a whore i do confess, but i put you on just like a wedding dress
and i run down the aisle, run down the aisle
i'm a prodigal with no way home, but i put you on just like a ring of gold
and i run down the aisle, run down the aisle... to You
so could you love this bastard child
though i don't trust you to provide
with one hand in a pot of gold
and with the other in your side
i am so easily satisfied
by the call of lovers less wild
that i would take a little cash
over your very flesh and blood
(repeat chorus)
Bridge:
because money cannot buy
a husband's jealous eye
when you have knowingly deceived his wife
(repeat chorus 2x)
7. Awake My Soul
Awake My Soul
The image of God invisible
The first born of all life
Before and within, He holds it all in
One name, one faith, one Christ
Cause no one is good enough to save himself
Awake my soul tonight to boast nothing else
I trust no other source or name
Nowhere else can I hide
This grace gives me fear, and this grace draws me near
And all that it asks it provides
Cause no one is good enough to save himself
Awake my soul tonight to boast nothing else
No seam in this garment
All my rags to hide
No less than your love
For Jesus is mine
When I stand on the edges of Jordan
With the saints and the angels beside
When my body is healed, and the glory revealed
Then still I can boast only Christ
Cause no one is good enough to save himself
Awake my soul tonight to boast nothing else
Cause no one is good enough to save himself
Awake my soul tonight to boast nothing else
To boast nothing else
To boast nothing else
8. Saint and Sinner
The main riff is easy, you start on that A2, slide up to B2, slide back to
A2, then just hammer off and on between the A and the A2 for fill. Listen to
the song and you'll get it quick.
V1:
If you want my glory, you've got to take my sin
If you want my future, you've got to take my skin
If you want my heart, you got to take my blood
If you want my pledge, you've got to take my lust
CHORUS:
I'm not a half a man;
I'm not a half a man.
God knows I love you now;
but a saint and a sinner is what I am.
V2:
If you want my spirit, you've got take my blues
If you want my mystery, you've got take my clues
If you want my child, you've got take my kin
If you want my money, you've got to take my rent
BRIDGE:
And it doesn't get better, once you've seen the light
you wait and find, your fight has just begun
Used to be a damn mess but now I look just fine,
You dressed me up, we drank the finest wine
play main riff through a few times
Outro (same as intro)
9. Beloved
There are lots of little hits/pulls on the B string during the Am, C, & F chords in the intro
and verses- add to taste. During the "solo" Derek plays the same verse progression only
adding a few more fun fills on the B and high E strings on the 3rd & 1st fret- Chorus:
I'm unsure of the 3rd chord in the 2nd line of the chorus, I can't figure if it's a funny G
or a C that has the low E on 2 like the Am/F# before it, or what. I'm open to suggestions.
V[
1]
Beloved, these are dangerous times
Cause you are weightless, like a leaf from the vine
And the wind has, blown you all over town
?Cause there is nothing, holding you to the ground
And now you, would rather be
A slave again than free
From the law...
horus
Beloved, listen to me
Don't believe all that you see
Don't you ever let anyone tell you that, there's anything that you need...
But me
V2
Beloved, these are perilous days
When your culture, is so set in it's ways
And it will listen, to salesmen and theives
Preaching other, than the truth you've received
'Cause they, are telling lies
For they can not cirucumsize
Your hearts...
horus
V3
Beloved, there is nothing more
No more blessings, and there are no more rewards
Than the treasure, of my body and blood
Given freely to all daughters and sons
To all daughters and sons
All my daughters and sons
To all daughters and sons
